Columbian Exchange

Since the days of his great adventure there have been a lot of myths about what Columbus did and did not do

Christopher Columbus was a great sailor and explorer and discoverer

The journey of 1492 led by Christoper Columbus changed the World forever.

Not because he discovered a New World.

The New World, named later the Americas, had already existed for thousands of years, with its cultures and kingdoms, which had risen and fallen just like the Egyptian and Roman and other empires had in Europe before he left Spain and came to... the islands that Christopher Columbus believed to be close to Japan.

In years and centuries that followed plants, animals, goods, people and ideas were being exchanged on a massive scale between the Old World Continents and the New World Continents.

Europe got potatoes, tomatoes, corn, pineapples and cacao and chocolate, and also the turkey and guinea pigs.

The Americas received horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens, rice, grains, coffee, sugarcane, bananas, melons, olives ... daisies and European bees.

What started in 1492 and, believe it or not, still continues until now, more than 500 (five hundred) years later, has later been termed The Columbian Exchange.

Great Adventure?
