EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. What Game Are They Playing? Football or Soccer?

Of course they are playing …  How about …?  Well, they are kicking the ball around with their feet trying to score a goal, that’s for sure.  If so, it’s definitely a foot-ball sport.  How come this game is called soccer in the US, then?

How-ever you call it, as long as we are, so to speak, on the same foot, football or soccer is the most popular sport in the whole wide World.  Well, probably with just one exception – the United States, where it’s gained a lot of popularity in the last, let’s say, 20 to 30 years thanks to the huge immigration waves from Europe and Latin America and the 1994 FIFA World Cup played in nine major American cities, with record per game and overall attendance.

This time the FIFA European Football Championship of 2012 took place in two neighboring countries: Poland and Ukraine.  If you are a (European) football or soccer fan you know what I’m talkin’ about.

Enjoy the re-runs.  Let’s play ball.  Have fun kicking it.  Goooooooooooal!

See ya …
