Just
like the Black Friday, the Friday right after Thanksgiving, is the beginning of the
Holiday shopping season, the Cyber Monday, following the whole Thanksgiving
weekend, has become its online equivalent in the e-world and a great
start to the year end digital shopping frenzy on the world wide web or net.
Internet commerce has been growing like an avalanche not really from the start of this electronic medium but since the mid 90-s (nineties) of the 20th (twentieth) century when internet service providers changed their pricing policies from limited per usage base with additional payments for over the base Gigabytes to fixed monthly fees with unlimited flow service, which enabled unlimited online search and “satisfying and pleasurable buying experience”.
The
technical change from narrow band delivery, in reality meaning over stationary
phone lines, to broad band systems like cable and satellite gave only an
additional boost to the process already on the way and created the information
highway to accommodate the already existing and forecasted digital traffic
volumes.
Breaking
the volume or transfer capacity barrier triggered a deluge of internet stores
and shopping malls and an unprecedented expansion of internet sales both in the
business to business and consumer markets.
It
was only a matter of time before marketers and PR or public relations
specialists would come up with efficient schemes and catchy phrases (funny video) to utilize the
“brick and mortar” world principles and techniques in the emerging digital or
electronic world, which created an ocean of new sales and profit possibilities.
An example of these e-appealing expressions is Cyber Monday and related, even newer, Cyber Thanksgiving.
Happy
Thanksgiving! Happy Shopping! Shop Till You Drop! … And then go straight to
bed or just fall sleep if you are shopping in the convenience of your home (funny video)
and even your own comfy bed.
Sweet
Dreams Shoppers!
